Dr. Carlson earned his medical degree from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. He then completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Carlson also completed a two-year fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Carlson specializes in providing individualized care for patients. He believes that each patient is different and devises a treatment plan that supports the whole patient, not just the disease.
He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Nebraska Medical Association, the Lancaster County Medical Society and is an affiliate member of the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center. His other professional activities include: Co-Principal Investigator and Board Member, Missouri Valley Cancer Consortium/National Cancer Institute Community Clinical Oncology Program; Investigator, Nebraska Lymphoma Study Group; Advisory Board, National Functional Genomics Center; and Past President, Lancaster County Medical Society.
In his spare time, Dr. Carlson enjoys waterskiing, traveling and spending time with his wife and their four children.
